Would you like to join our team as a volunteer mediator?

ALL our mediators are volunteers. They work for around 6-8 hours per month, (occasionally more), and their hours of work are flexible. They need to travel within the Torridge and North Devon areas and expenses are available.

Our Co-ordinator arranges the allocation of cases. Volunteers should normally be available to respond to messages from the Co-ordinator within one working day. There are case-work meetings, usually monthly.

Our volunteer mediators work in pairs, visiting clients in their homes in order to gain an understanding of the issues involved. They work with both parties in a dispute to promote effective communication - often at times of high conflict. They manage meetings at which both parties come together. They deal with allied administrative tasks.

All mediators operate in accordance with our guidelines and policies. We require our mediators to pass the Open College SW approved and accredited 50 hour training course and to achieve competent Mediator status as directed by us. We expect attendance at 'refresher' courses from time to time.

Our Person Specification sets out our expectation in terms of personal qualities, skills, experience and availability.

IF YOU THINK YOU COULD TAKE ON THIS CHALLENGE AND FIT INTO OUR FRIENDLY TEAM

PLEASE RING 0845 201 2556 (charged at local rate).

Our Co-ordinator will send you our latest report, a copy of our job description and person specification, and can advise on our forthcoming training course.
